Spring
has just started out, sparking the desire of refreshing your haircut
and adopting a new style.
Fringe
is getting a new triumphal come back in fashion models and
celebrities locks this season! As seen in the recent spring/summer
2012 fashion shows and catwalks, bangs are always part of the new
hairs trend. Timeless style that, depending on its cut, can look
falsely innocent, like Audrey Tautou’s Amelie bouncy pageboy
haircut, girly-like, classical or accentuates a femme fatale look,
the bangs have been sported by most worldwide celebrities throughout
the past decades:
Silent
movie actress Louise Brooks was one of the first notable fringe
wearer, followed by the 1950s glamour model Bettie Page and the
legendary Elizabeth Taylor in the role of Cleopatra.
Most
remarkable at Versace, Rooney Mara-esque heavy fringes were also seen
at Antonio Berardi, Marni and Iceberg this season.
Long
and short, classical and avant-garde, symmetrical and asymmetrical,
thick and irregular, oblique and direct, easily adaptable with any
type of hair. It’s up to you to play with your hairs and define the
right style for you!
However,
you must keep in mind that not all faces can sport the same fringe,
as not all bodies can sport the same clothing cut. First and
foremost, it must suit your face, and be face flattering!
For
instance, if you have a square-shaped face like Sandra Bullock, a cut
that softens the angles of your jaw will be more appropriate for your
face.
Elisabeth
Hurley is a typical diamond face shaped, the widest part of her face
is the cheekbones, with a narrow forehead, and angular jaw line, she
usually wears thick side-swept bangs, adding fullness and width to
her forehead and chin.
Elisa
Cuthbert is round-face shaped. Celebrities with a round face shape
like Elisa, Christina Ricci or Kate Winslet, often adopt layered
bangs rather than straight or heavy bangs.
If
your face is narrow at jaw line, wide at cheekbones/and or forehead
you are a heart-shaped/ oval shapes like Audrey Tautou and can easily
sport the paperboy/bob haircut made famous in Amelie. It features
straight and thick bangs cut straight across the forehead. Your
fringe will be best-worn off-center.
Triangle
faces shaped like Katy Ireland, which is the reverse of heart-shape,
are better wearing a hairstyle that avoids drawing too much attention
to your prominent jaw line. If your face is narrower at the temples
and is wider at the jawbone, you will need hairstyles that are full
at the temples and shrink at the jaw, the perfect fringe for you is a
bang that is teased in an upright position instead of a fringe combed
down over the forehead.
Such
as triangle faces, the rectangular face shapes like Gwyneth Paltrow
must avoid hairstyles that draw attention to their chin, side swept
bangs create a diagonal direction, accentuating your eyes.
With
all these useful advices in mind, you will certainly enjoy finding
the most appropriate style for your face and accentuate your beauty.
Play with your hairs, combine several haircuts to create yours and
become the spring Godness you want to be! And remember, as Yves Saint
Laurent would say:
